Boards & Commissions

The Village’s volunteer boards and commissions are composed of residents appointed by the Village Board who have special expertise and are committed to maintaining the standards of the Village. Many decisions made by Village Government are based upon the recommendations of these boards and commissions.
ADJUDICATION COMMISSIONOversees the local adjudication courts for non-moving traffic violations and for property code violations.

THE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSIONIt is the Mission of the Beautification Commission to promote the beautification of residential and commercial properties within the community and to promote the use and care of trees throughout the Village and maintain our Tree City USA Designation.

THE BOARD OF FIRE & POLICE COMMISSIONERSTests, appoints, and handles general disciplinary matters, suspends, and dismisses personnel within the Village’s Police and Fire Departments.

THE COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSIONWorks to maintain positive relations among all persons living and working within the Village of Hazel Crest. Also hosts a variety of events and projects, including a Holiday Giving Tree for local children in need.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTUnite shareholders within the community for the purpose of creating and supporting jobs, businesses and institutions that positively impact the region.
VETERANS COMMISSIONPlans activities and programs in honor of the veterans; serves to advocate on behalf of residents who have served in the United States Military.

OPEN LANDS COMMISSION
Works to develop, improve and beautify the Village’s Open Lands areas.

THE PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSIONMonitors and updates the Comprehensive Development Planning and Zoning ordinances for the Village and conducts public hearings on zoning classifications and variances.
SENIOR COMMISSIONHosts senior activities and tracks programs offered by the private sector and townships; acts as a broker of information to residents
YOUTH COMMISSIONIs aligned with family in supporting our youth. The intent is to bridge the gap between Village of Hazel Crest and its younger residents through social activities, team building events, and community service.
