SENIOR COMMITTEE MEETING
VILLAGE OF HAZEL CREST
FRIDAY, MAY 7, 2004, 10 A.M.
Call to Order:
Chair Jacquie Oliver called the
meeting to order at 10:04 a.m.
Roll Call:
The attendance sheet is attached and made a part of
these Minutes.
New Business:
Information needed for boundaries of
townships. Gwen Flagg reported on her meeting at SAAA (Suburban Area on Aging
Agency) on April 8th. She will represent Hazel Crest. SAAA has been set up as
a non-profit agency.
Next senior health fair at Georgio’s may be
October 6th.
Waterford Estates health fair is Tuesday, June
29th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in cooperation with Advocate South Suburban
Hospital. Will have a large array of tests and information. Will also have
vendors with other information. The fair will be held on the first floor at
Waterford. Need four or five volunteers for the table. Parking space needed.
Gwen Flagg asked if there are any channels/way
to inform seniors of the necessity for smoke detectors or a way to get smoke
detectors.
It was suggested to apply for a grant to get
smoke detectors. Have the forest rangers and other volunteers to install them.
Lynn Wortel brought tote bags for the
Committee members.
Information reference closing of Advocate
South Suburban Hospital is false according to Lynn Wortel. Information
reference a major addition to the emergency ward is true.
Next Meeting: The next Senior Committee meeting
will be Friday, June 4, 2004, (changed to June 25, 2004) at 10:00 a.m.
Adjournment: Having no other business the meeting
adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
