A. Hiring of personnel is administered by either the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners or the Civil Service Commission. Eligibility lists for the various job descriptions are maintained and all hiring is done from those lists. A better question to ask might be "Is the Department accepting applications for employment?" Prior to accepting applications for either sworn or non-sworn positions with the Department, announcements for available positions are printed in various area newspapers and posted on bulletin boards in area colleges. If applications are not currently being accepted, you may come to the Police Department and complete a pre-application form. When applications for employment for the various positions become available, you will be notified by mail to come to the Department and obtain one.
A. Yes, the officer can. The authority is granted under Sec. 19-166(b) of the Municipal Code of the Village of Hazel Crest.
A. Yes. Contact one of the Beat Representatives at the police station to make an appointment to have a security survey done.
A. Come to the Police Department and advise either the Clerk/Dispatcher or Data Entry Clerk what you need. If you are eligible to receive the information, you will be directed to Villages office where a $5.00 fee will be charged per report. Bring the receipt back to the Police Department and receive your report copy. This service is only available during Village office hours, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Mon. - Fri., and 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. Sat., except for Village holidays.
During all other times (when the Village Hall is closed), either the Clerk/Dispatcher or Data Entry Clerk will assist in determining the proper report number for you and then, upon proof of entitlement to the report, you will be given an envelope upon which you will provide the required information. The envelope will then be placed, with the fee enclosed, into the Village Hall night "drop" box located in the main lobby. Your report will then be copied and per your request, will either be mailed to the address listed on the request envelope or held at the police department reception desk for you to pick up. Reports will be ready for release the next business day.
In some instances you may need to file a freedom of information request form obtainable at the Village office.
A. No. Your conviction is a matter of public record but since it is an ordinance violation, it is not considered a criminal offense for reporting purposes. A conviction may, however, have a detrimental affect on any request you make for expungement of a prior misdemeanor or felony arrest.
A. Yes, but for village residents only. Come to the Police Department and advise either the Clerk/Dispatcher or Data Entry Clerk what you need. You must provide the necessary cards. Please bring the print card(s) you were given with you as we do not keep them on hand. The best time for this type of activity is between 8:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M., Monday through Friday.
A. No! The Hazel Crest Police Department does not solicit funds from citizens or businesses for its own or its members' use.
