Improper disposal of garbage is everyone's problem. Are we all disposing of our refuse properly? By the number of complaints we receive at our offices, it would appear not!
We remind you that improper storage and disposal of garbage can lead to blight and loss of property values for everyone. To keep our village in top shape, follow these guidelines:
All areas of your property, including alleyways, shall be free and clear of debris.
All household garbage must be stored in non-absorbent, watertight and washable containers with TIGHT-FITTING lids. NO BAGS OUTSIDE OF CANS!! Rodents and birds love to dig, looking for food.
ALL households MUST have garbage service and trash must be picked up weekly by a scavenger that is licensed within the Village.
All garbage should be put out for pickup no earlier than 7 P.M. on the night before pickup day. If you have bulk items, check with your scavenger for their pickup rules.
Yard waste and brush have special disposal requirements. Check with your Scavenger or the Municipal Center (335-9600) for details.
Discounted Compost Stickers are available at the Municipal Center. As always, Village residents are encouraged to bring regular compost items to the compost facility for free!
The Village Compost Facility will open for the season on April 1, 1998.
Remember that the fines for Garbage violations Start at $50 per day for every day that they exist.
By following these simple, but important guidelines, our community appearance will improve and Hazel Crest will continue to be a fine place to live. Please don't take our scavengers and garbage for granted, just clean it up and dispose of it properly!
