The most important part of an escape plan is having an operable smoke detector! It’s a state law!!
  • Change batteries every 6 months.
  • Test every week.
  • Clean monthly.
Make certain that there are two (2) ways out of every room in your home.
  • Most rooms have a door leading to a hallway, and a window.
Create a Map of your home, and show the escape routes for all rooms.
  • Make sure all routes remain unobstructed.
Decide on a meeting place for your family to gather after escaping your home.
  • Select a location away from the home, and visible to the Fire Department.
  • All occupants should meet there to take attendance.
Make sure that EVERY member of your household knows how to use the plan.
  • Plan for any infants, elderly, or handicapped occupants.
Post the plan in a visible location
PRACTICE THE PLAN EVERY MONTH!!!
  • Sound your smoke detector, have everyone escape the building, and meet at your assigned location.
